Introducing Scottie Academy

Does your Scottie have the talent to impress your friends at your house party, or is destined for Hollywood stardom as an actor? Scottie Academy from Scottie Club UK is the way to find out!

At one point, Scotties were ubiquitous in media. In the 1930s they graced British Railways posters, and helped sell a certain brand of Scotch Whisky. The iconic breed could make a comeback in media and the Scottie Academy could be how. We believe the best way to conserve the future of the Scottish Terrier breed is by raising the dogs’ visibility. We need more Scotties in commercials and films.

Scottie Club UK derives no financial gain from the Academy and course fees support the excellent tutor you will be working with.

If you are a member of Scottie Club UK (which is free to join by the way) your Scottish Terrier could enrol in our special series of three courses in the Academic Year which starts on 1 March and runs until 7 December!

Please note, only Scottish Terriers can be enrolled with Scottie Academy. You can enrol TWO Scotties, but we do not recommend more than two. If booking for two Scotties, you must pay the quoted fee for each registered dog in the course.

Enrolment will take place from January until mid-February for the first level course admission on 1 March. We accept payments via PayPal. This can be via your credit card or bank transfer payment. Please use the “friends and family option” to avoid incurring commission charge on remittance.

Please note, we do not accept pre-payment for the next levels of the course until closer to the time they will take place, as we cannot offer refunds for these courses.

Hi, I am Kathleen Tepperies

Certified Trick Dog Instructor (CTDI)

Kathleen was born in Germany and moved to the UK in 2002. She teaches tricks, using modern, kind, science- and reward-based methods. Kathleen has succesfully trained many dogs for commercials and film movies, such as The Flash (2023).
Teaching dogs’ tricks helps to prevent behavioural problems, gives these smart canines something fun to do, and is a great way to build a bond between you and your Scottie!
Dogs love to get involved in new activities and these could lead to stardom!
In addition to CTDI award, Kathleen has trained in programmes which include: Certified Canine Fitness Trainer (University of Tennessee); Dog Parkour Instructor (International Dog Parkour Association); Force Free Trick Trainer (The School of Canine Science). Kathleen is well-known to the founder of Scottie Club UK and we confidently introduce members to her skills.

Pikush Media Scholarship

Students enrolling in the Co-Star (Intermediate) course will be eligible to apply to the Star (expert) level final course. Dogs on Co-Star will also be eligible to be considered for the Pikush Media Scholarship. This is an annual bursary awarded to ONE gifted dog whom the trainer will select in September of that academic year.

Pikush was a talented Scottie who worked on various adverts, event announcements and even a movie, before he sadly passed on 3 October 2024.

Upon advice from the trainer in September, the Matlock family will present one student’s dog with the Pikush Media Scholarship on the 3 October for that academic year. This entitles the lucky dog to be admitted to the Star (expert) final course free of charge. In the event the dog has already been enrolled for Star course, this will be fully refunded prior to the course commencing. The decision of the award by the trainer is final. All travel and accommodation expenses must be covered by the student, or otherwise participate in the final course online.
