Scottie Club UK is pleased to announce that Lois Almond has been appointed a Meeting Marshal for the county of Somerset in south-west England.
Lois , her husband and Scottie Bonnie live in Bristol, the capital of Somerset. Lois joined Scottie Club UK in 2025 and approached us when we announced that we are now hiring regional Meeting Marshals to help connect Scotties and their owners throughout the UK.
She is as a content designer for a technical consulting company and has loved Scotties since she was a young girl, when her family had much-loved family pets called Charlie (Scottie) and Ted (Westie).
Lois was appointed at last weekend’s quarterly Scottie Club Committee meeting, alongside Karen Randall’s first committee sitting. Karen stepped forward in the spring to become Meeting Marshal for Essex – and will be handling the next London Walkabout which borders on her county. That Walkabout takes place on 28 September.
Meanwhile, Lois will be teaming up with Scottie Club UK Members in Somerset. Dates to follow!
We also sadly bid a fond farewell to Glynnis Lee MBE, who was a founding member of the Committee and Meeting Marshal. Many of you will remember Glyn and her husband Doug as devout Walkabout attendees with their beloved Scottie Hector. Sadly, Hector passed late in 2024.
Paying tribute George Matlock said: “Glyn has been a stalwart of the Club, often organising refreshments and suggesting locations for Walkabouts. It was only fitting that she became a Meeting Marshal and Committee member. But following the very sad news about Hector, we can only thank her for valiantly carrying on attending the Committee meetings in 2025. Glyn asked to step down and we fully respected her wishes. We also hope that one day Glyn will return to active Club life if she has another Scottie. We certainly hope for that outcome and wish her and Doug the very best for the future and sincere thanks for all their work.”
Glynnis Lee MBE, her husband Doug and VIP Hector have been members since London Scottie Club launched in 2016. Together with Doug they have worked with youth since 1976, and now run a full-time centre for people who have special needs.
