Our Scotties gathered eagerly at Morden Hall Park for this latest Summer walkabout.
Once again we saw Members travelling from far and wide to reach the event, Brighton not being too far for Bondy to venture from, whilst again Archie “knocked it out of the park” journeying down from Ipswich. When there is a call from the Clan our Scotties will follow…
It was a belated gathering as the original scheduled walk was planned for the last Sunday in June. But as you may recall, we had temperatires topping 35C and this was too oppressively hot for Members and Very Important Pooches (VIPs) alike. We take the wellbeing of our Members and VIPs very seriously when planning an event. While there was the threat of some showers today, at 22C this was way better than the heatwaves we have endured in the London area for a month.
We experienced perfect weather conditions, a gentle breeze with warmth remaining in the air following recent heatwaves. Ideal for following the tracked paths and for our Scotties going “off-piste” in the grass meadows, exploring everything that the Park had to offer. There was plenty – the river Wandle skirts the boundaries and in places there were mini tributaries for them to wade in. In a flash they descended down to the water and made it their own space, oblivious to other dogs nearby who had got there first – there was certainly strength in our numbers!
Brontë was a newcomer to the gathering from Dorking and quickly had many Scottie suitors dashing behind her. Inevitably this included Ted but there were others:- Ozzy, Mila, Maya, Audrey and Bondy’s sister Mabel were all in the mix too. Nessie preferred to wade solo with much more dignity after the others had moved on. Brewster was never far away from the action too, great to see him and his owner being consistent attendees at these walkabout events.
Special mention to Maggie who was on her first walkabout and definitely the pup of the gang. Whilst she was bold of spirit and stood her corner amongst the others. Thistle had been introduced to the walkabouts in Bushey Park in March 2024 and looked very happy being part of the Scottie scene too!
The Park café was an ideal spot for members to relax after the walkabout and members very much look forward to the next one in September. Bring it on….
