It was a dull, misty, damp day and all boded unwell for the quarterly Scottie Club UK Walkabout.
I have a coffee mug at home with the motto: Nothing Brightens the Day Like A Scottie. And so it was true, as 16 Scotties arrived from as far north of London as Ipswich and as far south as Brighton.
Brockwell Park in south east London last saw a Scottie gathering in December 2022 and many of the Members came back today, among them John and Maxine, Catherine, and Olga.

Railway owner in the foreground. BPMR, built in 2003, close to the site of the original railway which ran between 1951-1961.
We also had time to reflect on some who were unable to attend this time.
But the turnout was very decent indeed on a day that threatened to rain, but in the end chose not to. It was rather mild too.
The house at the centre of the park is presently surrounded by builders’ fences as part of a major refit. But one of the highlights of the walk was to hop on a ride of the Brockwell Park Minitature Railway. For more information visit TravelBPMR.com
It turns out the 7 1/4” gauge miniature railway line owner’s wife had Scotties as a child, so he was thrilled to take photos as a keepsake. And what a keepsake it was! We swapped railings for railways. Imagine congested carriages, but unlike the 740am Sevenoaks to London Bridge, bursting with Scotties that was a sight for any eyes that dared come closer. Photo opportunity that competed rather nicely with the usual railing fence alternative! Our sincere thanks to Brockwell Park Miniature Railway for pulling the train out of its sidings to allow the photos to take place.
Really great bit of film George, I’ll have to come next time. X
Thanks Maureen. As a Member, be great to see you on a Walkabout with Angus!
A great afternoon at Brockwell Park, our Scotties had loads of fun as did their owners! The miniature railway photo shoot was a particular highlight and remarkable that the Scotties were so well behaved sitting in the train seats!!
