Scottie Club UK has expanded over nearly a decade since it started as London Scottie Club. During that time we have witnessed a mushrooming of Scotties’ owners joining the club in the London area. Since 2024, the club went national and nearly 50% of our membership is now outside of the capital.
Although run as a voluntary network, Scottie Club UK has also stepped up to the challenge by developing an organised structure and is looking for more helpers. Could that be you?
Did you know that since 2020 we have Meeting Marshals (MMs)? We are now looking for regional Meeting Marshals to take the lead in organising Walkabouts outside of London and promoting the good reputation of the Club.
As a Meeting Marshal you will:
🐾 Have the authority to announce and lead regional Walkabouts in an area of the UK where you live and know the turf well
🐾 Meet more Scottie owners and their dogs local to where you live
🐾 Report on the Walkabout so that the wider membership can read about your successes on the website Scottieclub.uk
🐾 Sit on the Scottie Club UK Committee which comprises all Meeting Marshals and convenes to discuss online the direction of the club on a quarterly basis
🐾 Expect support and instruction on the responsibilities of MMs from the Club Committee
🐾 Have a voice in developing the Club that you want as well as upholding our long traditions
In London, we have contained it to quarterly Walkabouts. But we know that for many of our Members outside of London these can be difficult for them to attend. We want all Members and their VIPs to feel connected, no matter where they live. That is why we now invite you to apply to become MMs.
You can meet some of our MMs on the About page and also learn more about our values.
Could this be you?
So long as you are a Member of Scottie Club UK, it could indeed be you!
Please write in the first instance to us using the Contact Form and explain why you could be suited to this role and what area of the UK you could cover.
We thank you enormously for your interest and hope you will find it a rewarding role.
Thanks Adriana and Cora. We are very pleased to hear that London Scotties Club, now Scottie Club UK, has made such an impression and inspired your walk plans.
We saw the photos yesterday on our WhatsApp Convo and looks like everyone had a great time connecting locally!
It also chimes with our hopes to better reach our members across the UK, as more active Members like you both organise events in other areas outside of London.
We invite Members to come forward and help organise regional, county-based, Walkabouts across Britain.
What Adriana and Cora need to do next is to use the Contact form on this webite to send a 50-word CV of who you are and attach with it your portrait. Scottie is optional 🙂
The Scottie Club UK committee will then appoint Meeting Marshals for your region and your details and photo will appear on the ABOUT page of the website.
We just admitted Karen Randall yesterday for Essex region! Congratulations to Karen and we look forward to working with her.
Hi,
My name is Adriana and I live in Cambridge. After learning that there are walk groups in London for Scottish Terriers, I managed to get in touch with people living in this area, and we organised a walk on Monday 5th May. It went really well, and everyone felt we should do it again.
For that reason, another lady called Cora and I have decided to team up and support each other to help make these meet-ups happen as often as possible.
I’d also love to act as a Marshall so that more people can join in whenever they’re able to.
Please feel free to let me know if you need any further information, or if there’s anything else we should consider when organising these events.
Best wishes,
Adriana
