In July 2026, Scottie Club UK was saddened to learn that a member of the club had lost two Scotties in a matter of days, from two unrelated causes. Matt Evans agreed to join Scottie Radio UK to talk about his children, Tartuffe and Willow, and to offer some practical advice to members when the health of our Scotties cannot be saved. It is a very personal tribute to the Scotties and a very moving account all Scottie owners will want to hear.

Dear Matt – to say I am sorry for your losses is a total understatement. My heart hurts for you both. I lost my own beloved eldest Scottie, Bertie, to cancer. He went within 10 days; seeming to fade from the bright, alert, inquisitive, brave, totally wonderful friend of 12 years to a shadow of himself, albeit still my Bertie, in front of my eyes. I miss him and talk to him everyday; it’s been over a year now. They are quite unique and quite irreplaceable. You have my deepest condolences. Laura

Dear Matt, my heart goes out to you and Gavin, such a wonderful life story of your darling Scottie’s Tartuffe and Willow, they would be so proud of you both.
So very hard for you to talk about the end, it really made me believe they so wanted to be together.
I always remember yourselves and your lovely boys in Brighton at our first Scottie meet up, I always say to John how very welcoming you both were. All 4 of you were great.
It’s very early days but try and remember the happy times with Tartuffe and Willow, I know there will be plenty of memories that will make you laugh and smile. Scottie’s have a SPECIAL place in our hearts.
